A silent chain (or inverted-tooth chain) is a power transmission component that uses flat, interlocking toothed plates to mesh with sprockets. Unlike traditional roller chains that rely on cylindrical pins and rollers, the silent chain features flat link plates with teeth on the bottom. These plates engage directly with the sprocket.
